Cross species amplification and characterization of microsatellite markers in Leporinus friderici (Characiformes, Anostomidae)

چکیده
ABSTRACT: Leporinus friderici is a migratory neotropical fish with elevated ecological and economic importance in Brazil. Microsatellite markers are highly important population genetic studies, management, conservation programs; however, no available for this species. In study, seven microsatellite loci, previously developed Megaleporinus obtusidens, were successfully cross-amplified L. friderici. Among these five presented moderate to high variability levels, four alleles per loci expected heterozygosities varying from ≥ 0.574 1.000. These represent valuable tool the future management studies involving species group of fishes.

Heterologous amplification and characterization of microsatellite markers in the Neotropical fish Leporinus friderici.
Leporinus friderici, native to the Amazon Basin and popularly known as "piau-três-pintas", has great ecological and economic importance; it is widely fished and consumed throughout much of tropical South America. Knowledge of the genetic diversity of this native species is important to support management and conservation programs. We evaluated microsatellite loci amplification, using heterologo...
متن کاملThe reproductive strategy of Leporinus friderici (Characiformes, Anostomidae) in the Paraná River basin: the effect of reservoirs.
The reproductive strategy of a species depends upon the interaction between intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Examining the population of Leporinus friderici in two reservoirs of the Upper Paraná River basin in reference to first gonadal maturation and breeding season and sites, the present investigation tested whether the environment formed by damming promoted spatial and temporal changes in th...
متن کاملIsolation and characterization of microsatellite markers for Sturnira parvidens and cross-species amplification in Sturnira species
BACKGROUND Sturnira is one of the most species-rich genera in the Neotropics, and it is found from Mexico and the Lesser Antilles to Argentina. This genus forms a well-supported monophyletic clade with at least twenty-one recognized species, as well as several others under taxonomic review. Sturnira parvidens is a widespread frugivorous bat of the deciduous forests of the Neotropics, is highly ...

Characterization and cross-species amplification of microsatellite markers in African Silverbill (Lonchura cantans).
We tested the cross-amplification of eight microsatellites developed for Bengalese finch in African Silverbill (Lonchura cantans). In order to develop resources for conservation genetic studies in the species L. cantans, we tested the amplification success and polymorphism in eight previously developed microsatellite loci, in L. cantans. All eight microsatellite markers were successfully amplif...
